Colorado repeals its 2024 AI Act and enacts a narrower automated decision-making law effective January 2027

The 2024 Act never took effect; its deadline had already been pushed to June 2026. The replacement responds to business pressure and to the federal executive order that named Colorado, and it shifts the compliance burden from prescribed process to demonstrable reasonable care.

What to do: keep the records that prove care for automated decision systems, including model access controls, data integrity checks and monitoring for manipulation, and watch for the Attorney General's rules.
